A joke to start the day

Whoopie! It’s Wednesday! I don’t have any brilliant WFMW ideas to share, as usual, so I thought I’d share a joke.
I was just reading through the comments on Amy’s book give-away, and came across a joke that made me laugh out loud. I’m not much of a joke person, but every once [...]

Eight entries

Amy is giving away books, and I really want one. I wanted it as soon as I read the title, but when Amy mentioned that you can’t buy them anywhere, you can only request one if you place an order with a certain company, I really, really wanted one.
If I understand the contest ‘rules’, [...]

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mother’s birthday, and this child is rising up to call her blessed (Proverbs 31:28). She is my ‘older woman’, living out Titus 2:3-5, teaching and admonishing me in both word and example.
She’s pretty cool.
She usually raves about how much she loves parties and presents, but now that her day is here, [...]

The answer is b.

Pusillanimous means ‘lacking courage or resolution’. Very useful definition ~ that’s why I picked it. Too bad it’s such a yucky sounding word. I doubt if I will be able to bring myself to use it often. The next word I choose will have to be one that’s fun to say.

Why not make it three.

I haven’t had a three-post day in a while. I’m staying home with Baby Boy while the rest of the family attend church. He has a wheezing, coughing, sneezing, drooling, runny-nose cold and a church nursery full of other babies is not the place for him to be today. He needs his [...]

Freedom

My little guy is certainly getting around today. At 0 and 1/2 years old he is enjoying his first taste of freedom. He has the rolling thing down pat, except when those chubby little arms don’t get tucked under quite far enough. Then it just takes a couple more tries and we [...]

Just call me Nabob.

My father works at the local juvenile detention center, and I think he’s the oldest one of the oldest employees there. (My children sometimes call it ‘the kid jail’. How sad is that?)
Dad doesn’t have a lot of formal education, but he is a reader. The Bible, newspapers, novels, current events magazines, [...]

He said, she said

There are seven people living in this house ~ you can just imagine the number of words that get thrown around here on a daily basis. Some days it nearly amounts to noise pollution. Just when I think I can’t cope for another second, my husband takes everyone out to run some errands [...]

A short fool no more

Proverbs has lots to say about fools. On days like today, I feel like I can insert my name in most of those references.
The reason for today’s foolishness is that I’m a little on the short side. My 5′9-1/2″ frame is very short of temper, short on patience, on creativity, on compassion, on [...]
